Following the inauguration of newly-minted U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris, a “Celebrating America” presidential inaugural programme took place. Biden and Harris both delivered remarks during the event, with the president telling the nation “because of you, democracy has prevailed." Biden added that “overcoming the challenges in front of us requires the most elusive of all things in a democracy: unity.”
The event was hosted by Hollywood actor Tom Hanks and had performances by singers including Justin Timberlake, Jon Bon Jovi and Demi Lovato. Biden is the 46th president of the United States.
